There are millions of plants and animals in the oceans. That is a really big number but there are probably lots more species of things people haven’t even found yet.
The oceans are home to really big animals and other animals that you can only see with a microscope. (My dad has a microscope and I like to look at things that you can’t see without it.) We have to be responsible and make sure the oceans are a good place for all these animals to live.
The oceans need to stay clean because the animals will not be able to live there if the water is not safe for them. I love going to the beach and hearing the waves. Sometimes I see marine animals in the water. Once I went whale watching and saw a hammerhead shark.
Some animals I already know about because I go to SeaWorld so much. But sometimes I see animals at the beach or in the ocean that I don’t know a lot about. I like to tell my class and friends what I learn about animals. Keeping the oceans clean to keep the marine animals safe is very important. When I went to Hawaii my baby sister and I had a lot of fun playing in the water at the beaches. I played a lot on the sand and saw lots of ghost crabs.
While I was there I went snorkeling with my dad. The water was very clear and blue. I saw black and white pufferfish, parrotfish, triggerfish and sea turtles. I also saw dolphins and monk seals. These animals were all in their natural environment, the ocean. People won’t be able to see these same things if we don’t take care of the water. There would be nowhere for all those plants and animals to live without the ocean. That’s a lot of animals with nowhere to live.
And that is why it is so important to take care of the oceans!
