I really like going to SeaWorld and am so excited to go to the Halloween Spooktacular this month. I love making crafts with my mom at home so I made my own Halloween costumes. I had so much fun feeding turtles with Mike at SeaWorld San Diego that I decided to make a sea turtle costume. My favorite book at home is “Rainbow Fish” so I also made a fish costume. I just need to decide which costume to wear to SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular.
Making the turtle costume was easy. I used green paints and cardboard as the shell. My mom cut the turtle shell out of a big box before I painted it.
I had a great time painting the shell by myself. The cool thing about turtle shells is they are all different. My turtle shell has stripes and I covered the light green with dark green paint. I knew my shell would turn out awesome because I really love painting.
My mom glued elastic straps to the inside of the shell so I could wear it like a backpack. I wore green clothes so I would look just like a sea turtle.
The fish costume was fun and easy to make too. My mom cut out colored felt into fish scales before I started working on the costume.
I used fabric glue to put the fish scales on an old shirt and pants from my closet. After I added all of the scales my mom gave me a big felt fish tail to glue to the back of my shirt.
I glued circle felt pieces to a headband and colored on eyeballs to make the fish eyes. I had fun playing outside in my new costume pretending to be a fish.
Sea-inspired costumes are easy to make with stuff you already have at home. I can’t wait to wear mine to SeaWorld soon!
