Shark attack victim Lucy Mangum celebrated her seventh birthday at Discovery Cove due to the kindness of Southwest employee, Mike Williams who heard Lucy’s incredible story during a national television interview.
Hearing Lucy share that she “liked dolphins way better than sharks” inspired Mike to provide his Southwest employee vouchers to bring Lucy and her family to Orlando to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove.
Earlier this month, not only was she able to swim with an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin at Discovery Cove, she also received a very special birthday gift from her new flippered friend and was even brave enough to touch a gentle zebra shark with her siblings. Lucy suffered wounds on her right leg from a shark attack off of the coast of North Carolina in July 2011.
