SeaWorld Orlando’s Kraken was selected as the winner of last night's "Insane Coaster Wars" show on the Travel Channel. This is the first roller coaster in Florida to take the top spot in this series.
Fans were encouraged to vote online between some of the country's most exciting coasters that spend the most time upside down. These were selected because, by the end of the adventure, riders were left asking, "Which way is up?" Kraken beat out Vortex at King’s Island, Hydra the Revenge at Dorney Park and Wild Eagle at Dollywood. Sky-high loops and endless inversions are what people love the most about Kraken over all of the others.
In last night's episode, Kraken was revealed as the winner in the “Wrong Way Up” category. This floorless steel coaster with its trio of subterranean dives and seven inversions has proved to reign supreme... and the video below shows you a point-of-view as to why Kraken is the winner!
Thanks to all who voted, and if you haven’t ridden Kraken yet, you’re in for a real treat at SeaWorld Orlando! Kraken is Orlando’s only floorless roller coaster and is themed after a massive, mythological underwater beast unleashed from the depths of the sea. Riders’ feet dangle as they travel in open-sided seats, riding on a pedestal above the track at speeds of 65 mph to heights of more than 140 feet.
