With back-to-school time officially here in Central Florida, SeaWorld Orlando’s team members have been quite busy working behind the scenes to help children get the materials they need this school year.
In recent weeks, SeaWorld partnered with A Gift for Teaching, a local non-profit organization that focuses on providing supplies and resources free to teachers that can utilize them in classrooms with the strongest need. Team members visited A Gift for Teaching’s Free Store to stuff backpacks for kids who attend schools where more than half of students enrolled qualify for free or reduced lunch. In less than three hours, a whopping 1,800 backpacks were filled with essentials.
A few days later, SeaWorld team members were then able to distribute these backpacks to children at a nearby elementary school’s open house.
A highly successful supply drive was held throughout SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment‘s three Orlando parks – SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica – in collaboration with A Gift for Teaching’s annual back-to-school PUSH campaign, a movement to collect fundamentals for children during the time they are needed most. SeaWorld team members’ bountiful donations filled six palettes with necessities such as backpacks, art supplies, paper, pencils, notebooks, and much more. To further help the cause, SeaWorld donated $5,000 to the PUSH campaign.
While SeaWorld is a global leader in animal care and conservation, a commitment to our surrounding communities remains a top priority. Philanthropic efforts are frequently pursued in the areas of children, education, and the environment.
