Rady Children's Hospital Patients Take a DIP at SeaWorld San Diego

SeaWorld dolphin trainer Joy Clausen knows what it’s like to deal with a life-threatening illness. During her battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Clausen underwent chemotherapy at a Children’s Hospital in Southern California, where she met many children undergoing intense chemotherapy for their illnesses. Joy came through the ordeal, and in gratitude for her health, she is offering a welcome distraction to patients from Rady Children’s Hospital in the form of a special interaction with bottlenose dolphins. Last week, patients ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old had the opportunity to interact with Joy and the dolphins. Patients were able to touch, feed and interact with these amazing animals. Family members also got to observe the special interaction, and all of the families were invited to enjoy the rest of the day in the park.
