SeaWorld Rescue Team Helps Disentangle Young Humpback Whale

The SeaWorld Rescue Team recently came to the aid of a young humpback whale entangled in fishing gear off the coast of San Diego. The humpback whale was laboring as it tried to swim under the strain of the fishing gear wrapped around its tail flukes. For this young whale, it was a life-threatening situation. The SeaWorld Rescue Team, assisted by several other agencies, was able to give the whale a second chance at life. Watch the video below. (NOAA MMHSRP Permit #18786)

Guess Who I Got to See Up Close – Killer Whales!

Sea lions are my favorite marine animals but my next favorite are whales. SeaWorld has taught me a lot about killer whales. Sometimes I get to talk to the trainers and hear all about how they take care of the whales. They spend a lot of time observing them and learn lots every day.

You Need to Check Out Dolphin Days at SeaWorld San Diego

Dolphins are so neat because they are cute and smart. An awesome thing they can do is locate things with echolocation – that means they make a noise and it bounces back to them. Echolocation helps them find their food.

Dophins have fusiform bodies, just like sea lions, to help them swim fast through the water.

Why I Want to Work with Animals When I Grow Up

I want to work with animals when I grow up because it would be the best job ever. Sea lions are my very favorite and I really REALLY want to work with them because they are so funny and cute. The last time I was at SeaWorld San Diego I met a sea lion that could give a salute. I showed him what to do and he just waived at me instead. Isn’t that funny?

I Love Killer Whales

I really like learning about killer whales when I go to SeaWorld. Killer whales are also called Orcinus orca. I’ve always loved watching them from the underwater viewing window. The first time I met them I was just a baby.

When I was at SeaWorld earlier this year I met Kasatka and her trainer Kristi.
