With their own unique blend of humor and heart, this week’s show saw Mitchell mourning the plight of wild sea lion “Snorkels,” who was injured (and presumed to have passed away) from plastic bag pollution.

Shark attack victim Lucy Mangum celebrated her seventh birthday at Discovery Cove due to the kindness of Southwest employee, Mike Williams who heard Lucy’s incredible story during a national television interview.

SeaWorld San Diego Welcomes Rescued Pilot Whale

Meet Argo! The 10-year-old male pilot whale is getting acclimated at SeaWorld, after being transported from Japan to the marine-life park for long-term care. SeaWorld animal care specialists and veterinarians are keeping a close watch on the marine mammal, who weighs 1,200 pounds and measures 11 and a half feet long. He is being cared for in a behind-the-scenes pool at Dolphin Stadium. Trainers expect to introduce him to the park’s other pilot whales over the next several days.

Species Spotlight: Pregnant Bottlenose Dolphin

Look at what we saw on ultrasound in someone’s belly this week. You guessed it… It’s a… It’s a… It’s the fluke of a baby dolphin!!! One of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins is approximately 6 months pregnant. A dolphin’s full pregnancy is a year long, so she has another 6 months of pregnancy left.

Patients from Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego Enjoy Special Dolphin Interaction

There's nothing like a dolphin to make you forget your cares. Almost a dozen patients from a local hospital got the chance to do just that recently, when they took part in a special Dolphin Interaction Program hosted by SeaWorld San Diego dolphin trainer, Joy Clausen Soto.

Species Spotlight: SeaWorld Orlando Welcomes Dolphin Calf

SeaWorld Orlando recently welcomed an adorable dolphin calf to its family. The unnamed calf weighed in at 35 pounds and is 40 inches long, with the sex unknown at this time. Currently, the calf is nursing and bonding with its mom, Ariel, (in her mid teens, this is her fourth calf).
