Guess Who I Got to See Up Close – Killer Whales!

Sea lions are my favorite marine animals but my next favorite are whales. SeaWorld has taught me a lot about killer whales. Sometimes I get to talk to the trainers and hear all about how they take care of the whales. They spend a lot of time observing them and learn lots every day.

Animal Adaptations I Wish I Had

Most marine animals are able to live in and out of water because of their adaptations. Those are all the things that have changed over time to help them survive. It would be really cool if I had some of their adaptations too. Being able to swim fast, breathe under water and even hide would be awesome.

Kalia's Baby Gender Reveal!

We have excellent news to share: The gender of Kalia's baby has been confirmed through DNA testing!

The baby will be named after the first of the year.

Trainers and veterinarians report that the baby continues to thrive and is bonding and nursing from Kalia regularly. You can visit Kalia and her calf periodically at Shamu’s Underwater Viewing!

Kalia's Calf is Born!

It is with great pride that we announce the birth of a baby killer whale. Kalia, the daughter of Kasatka, gave birth at 12:34 p.m. today to a healthy-looking calf at Shamu Stadium, under the watchful eyes of our veterinarians and zoological team members. After a 17-month gestation, Kalia’s calf, estimated to weigh between 300 and 350 pounds and measure between 6 and 7 feet, was born in Shamu Stadium’s main show pool following two hours and 15 minutes of labor.

I Love Killer Whales

I really like learning about killer whales when I go to SeaWorld. Killer whales are also called Orcinus orca. I’ve always loved watching them from the underwater viewing window. The first time I met them I was just a baby.

When I was at SeaWorld earlier this year I met Kasatka and her trainer Kristi.
