New "Voices of SeaWorld" Episode Jumps Into Action with the SeaWorld Rescue Team

Whether bottle-feeding an orphaned baby sea lion or rescuing a stranded dolphin in the middle of the night, the SeaWorld rescue team regularly jumps into action to save animals in need all over the world. In fact, SeaWorld employees have rescued more than 22,000 wild animals over nearly 50 years through this program.

Sea Rescue with Sam Champion returns this Saturday, Oct. 5 with more stories of marine animal rescue, rehabilitation and return by the SeaWorld rescue team and its partners. The show is hosted by environmental journalist and Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion. The show has been seen by more than 86 million viewers in its first two seasons.

Congratulations Tobie on New Dolphin Baby!

We are pleased to announce the birth of a bottlenose dolphin calf. After a 12-month gestation period, the calf was born to a bottlenose dolphin named Tobie yesterday in a behind-the-scenes pool at SeaWorld San Diego. Both mother and baby appear to be in good health and are swimming together and bonding.

Happy 1st Birthday Bodie!

Today marks Bodie's one year birthday! He was born October 18, 2014 on a sunny day here at SeaWorld San Diego. All of us here at SeaWorld have enjoyed seeing him grow up, get bigger and develop relationships with his family and trainers. Wendy, senior trainer at Dolphin Stadium, comments that he enjoys learning sessions with his trainer and that he is very smart and inquisitive.

Rady Children's Patients Take a DIP with Dolphins

SeaWorld San Diego has been hosting patients from Rady Children’s Hospital for a Dolphin Interaction Program (DIP) for seven years, as part of a program started by dolphin trainer Joy, who battled and overcame non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Joy, who herself underwent chemotherapy at a Children’s Hospital in Southern California, vowed that if she made it through her ordeal, she would offer dolphin interactions as a welcome distraction to children going through similar struggles.

You Need to Check Out Dolphin Days at SeaWorld San Diego

Dolphins are so neat because they are cute and smart. An awesome thing they can do is locate things with echolocation – that means they make a noise and it bounces back to them. Echolocation helps them find their food.

Dophins have fusiform bodies, just like sea lions, to help them swim fast through the water.

Why I Want to Work with Animals When I Grow Up

I want to work with animals when I grow up because it would be the best job ever. Sea lions are my very favorite and I really REALLY want to work with them because they are so funny and cute. The last time I was at SeaWorld San Diego I met a sea lion that could give a salute. I showed him what to do and he just waived at me instead. Isn’t that funny?
