Rocky Point Preserve Re-Opening!

Rocky Point Preserve at SeaWorld San Diego has been undergoing some renovations for a few months and we are gearing up to reopen our area in less than one week! We are very excited and can’t wait to share our new-and-improved area with everyone. One of the big changes is there will be more access throughout the day around the pool, which means more opportunities to get up close to our resident bottlenose dolphins.

Species Spotlight: Pregnant Bottlenose Dolphin

Look at what we saw on ultrasound in someone’s belly this week. You guessed it… It’s a… It’s a… It’s the fluke of a baby dolphin!!! One of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins is approximately 6 months pregnant. A dolphin’s full pregnancy is a year long, so she has another 6 months of pregnancy left.

Species Spotlight: SeaWorld Orlando Welcomes Dolphin Calf

SeaWorld Orlando recently welcomed an adorable dolphin calf to its family. The unnamed calf weighed in at 35 pounds and is 40 inches long, with the sex unknown at this time. Currently, the calf is nursing and bonding with its mom, Ariel, (in her mid teens, this is her fourth calf).

Holiday Bowl Football Teams Visit SeaWorld San Diego

Players from the University of Washington and University of Nebraska visited SeaWorld
San Diego on Dec. 27 as part of annual Holiday Bowl "Team Day." Players from both teams donned Shamu ponchos and flocked to Shamu Stadium's "soak zone" for an up close and watery experience during the Believe Show.

SeaWorld San Diego Vets Team Up With Human Doctors To Save Dolphin’s Life

SeaWorld San Diego veterinarians went to extraordinary lengths to save the life of one of the park’s dolphins. Dottie, a 23-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, went into kidney failure due complications from kidney stones, but thanks to a team of highly-skilled “human” doctors from the University of California at San Diego Medical Center, her life was saved through medical procedures never before performed on a dolphin.
