Beneath the Surface: The Making of "One Ocean"‬‪ - Color

by Staff

Color is at the center of the sixth video in our series “Beneath the Surface”.

Reflecting the palate of nature, the colorful “One Ocean” set visually transforms Shamu Stadiumwith the vibrant colors of sea and sky. These colors brilliantly adorn the center-stage set, which is shaped as an 80-foot-wide killer whale fluke.

“We wanted to evoke all the colors of the water spectrum - from cobalt blue, to aquamarine and even royal purple – to represent the ever-changing ocean,” says production designer Stanley Meyer.

The designer’s inspiration came from both above and below. “It wasn’t just water,” he went on to explain. “We also worked in the other end of the spectrum – the hot magenta, yellowand orange colors – to reflect the beauty of a sunriseover the sea.”

“One Ocean" is now open at SeaWorld Orlando. It opens at SeaWorld San Diego on Memorial Day weekend and SeaWorld San Antonio in June.
